About me and this blog

Hi, and welcome to Teaching with iPad!
I started this blog to share how I use the iPad as a daily teaching tool in the classroom. Over the years, iPads have become a common part of our homes, schools, and workplaces — but many teachers still wonder how to make the most of them for education. My goal is to provide practical ideas, app recommendations, and real classroom examples to help teachers, professors, and educators unlock the iPad’s potential for learning.

After teaching with an iPad for more than a full school year, I realized I can’t imagine my classroom without it. As a traveling teacher, I carry it to every lesson. Sometimes it’s the centerpiece of a lesson, sometimes just a quiet companion on my cart — but when I introduce a new app, my students still light up with curiosity. For me, the iPad has become more than a device; it’s an integral part of how I teach.

A little about me

  • I’m entering my 13th year of teaching.
  • I teach French as a second language to nearly 350 students in Grades 1–5.
  • I don’t have a fixed classroom — instead, I teach 14 classes across 8 different rooms each week.
  • My teaching toolkit includes: a laptop, an iPad Pro, a school-issued iPad 4, and an HDMI projector on a mobile cart I wheel from class to class.
  • Outside of school, I enjoy playing and teaching guitar and piano.

What to expect here

I’ll start with the basics: the apps and features that make iPads powerful for teaching. Many educators I’ve spoken with say they “just don’t know where to start.” Some of these apps might be familiar to Apple veterans, but my goal is to help teachers at all levels — even those starting completely from scratch.

I’d love for this blog to be a conversation. Please share your questions, ideas, or suggestions in the comments — your input helps guide future posts.
