How to Redeem iTunes gift cards and App promo codes

Back to the basics:

Here is a quick lesson on how to redeem both your iTunes gift cards and App promo codes on both your iPad and iPhone/iPod touch. The reason I decided to go over this is that there will soon be a couple app giveaways in the upcoming posts here on teachingwithipad.org. There will also soon be some iPad and iPhone accessory giveaways in the next few weeks!

Keep this site bookmarked and you will have a chance to win them.

On your iPhone:

  1. Tap App Store
  2. Tap the “Featured” tab
  3. Scroll down to the bottom, there should be a “Redeem” button.
  4. Type or paste your long code (found on the back of your gift card once you remove the thin sticky tape)
  5. Tap “Redeem”
  6. Your account should be credited with the updated dollar amount, or, if you entered an App promo code, the app should begin downloading after you enter your iTunes password.

 

Now, on your iPad. Same instructions, but I find that the redeem button is much easier to find. It is in the middle of the screen when you scroll all the way down under the “Featured” tab.
